Here are a few small paintings and sketches of oranges and lemons using acrylic paints. I was trying to recreate the form and the texture of the fruits. The texture of the oranges was a bit more challenging and I ended up going over and over the oranges in these paintings in several layers, trying to get them right. I since watched a youtube tutorial on painting oranges so if I have a go at this subject again it’ll hopefully turn out better.

Geraldine, these latest paintings are lovely. I,ve a tip for you, have you ever used a glazing medium?,you build up thin layers of glazes of paint,it gives a great feeling of depth, alternatively i would use crimson red and a rich yellow on top of one another.

Hi James, many thanks for that tip, no I haven’t used glazing medium before but I’ll try it out next time I’m painting with acrylics.

Thanks! I find acrylics fistula easy to use but still have a lot to learn!
