I was having a bit of a bad week, nothing serious, just feeling bored and fed up with work and the daily routine. When I spotted bouquets of sunflowers while out grocery shopping I bought one to cheer myself up a bit, their being so cheerful looking! Of course I had to then try my hand at painting them too…
This was painted with acrylics on acrylic paper. I had actually intended to paint the background and table but absent mindedly started to colour the flowers first. I liked the result of having a plain background in the end though.
This one was done with watercolours on watercolour paper.
Initial sketchbook sketch in watercolour. I’ve been enjoying trying to move the sketches on from the sketchbook stage and use them as preparation for more ‘finished’ pieces. I suppose that’s the whole point of keeping a sketchbook! But with this mindset I think I’ll be a bit freer and more experimental in my sketchbook.
