I had a lovely week’s holiday in the Jura Region of France recently. We stayed in a campsite by Lac du Chalain, surrounded by lots of woodland. It was a very quiet, peaceful week away and I managed to get time to do some painting while I was there. I brought a Windsor and Newton compact set of 10 watercolour cakes with me and I definitely noticed a difference in the quality of these paints compared with the cheaper paints I had been using. Here are two watercolours of the lake that I finished while I was there. I started a few others but have to add some finishing touches yet.
The paining above was done on a wet, thundery day from a photo I had taken during a walk but the painting below I did while sitting by the lake on a sunny day. This was my first time to paint a landscape/seascape from life – outdoors.
Beautiful work Geraldine, yes its always worthwhile using artists watercolours.
